Francophone Mobility Work Permit: Unlocking Opportunities for foreign workers after studying at ATPAL

Are you an international student considering studying in Canada and exploring exciting career opportunities? ATPAL Language School is here to guide you through the process and highlight the benefits of the Francophone Mobility Work Permit. In this blog post, we will explain how this permit can enhance your study experience AFTER you study with us at ATPAL and open doors to work opportunities in Canada.

1. What is the Francophone Mobility Work Permit?

The Francophone Mobility Work Permit is a special program created to make it easier for French-speaking or bilingual immigrants to work in Canada.

Since June 15, 2023, Canadian employers can hire French-speaking or bilingual workers without needing a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). This applies to jobs in the TEER 4 and 5 categories of the National Occupational Classification (NOC), which usually include entry-level or intermediate jobs, such as customer service, hospitality, or caregiving — but excluding jobs in primary agriculture.

This is a two-year pilot program designed to simplify and speed up the hiring process. If you speak French and meet the requirements, this could be your chance to start working in Canada more easily and quickly.

2. Who is eligible?

To apply for the Francophone Mobility Work Permit, you need to:

  • Meet the general eligibility requirements for a Canadian work permit
  • Plan to live and work outside of Quebec (in one of the other nine provinces or three territories)
  • Prove that you speak and understand French at an intermediate level (Canadian Language Benchmark – NCLC 5 or higher)
  • Have a job offer in any eligible TEER category, except primary agriculture occupations.

3. Can your family come with you?

Yes! Your spouse or common-law partner may qualify for an open work permit, and your dependent children can attend school or university in Canada while you work. This makes it a well-rounded option for families looking to settle and grow together.

At ATPAL Languages, we understand the importance of seamless transitions from studying to working in Canada.
