FAQ
Got questions?
We’ve got
answers.
At Atpal, we make sure you have all the information you need — from registration to your first day in class. Here are some of the most common questions our students ask.
We’ve organized the FAQs into
four sections:
What is the ALSYS methodology and how is it different from other methodologies?
ALSYS (Assertive Learning System) is our proprietary, patented method designed to help you speak fluently in record time. Unlike traditional methodologies that focus heavily on grammar books, ALSYS focuses on mental agility and automation, training your brain to think and respond in your new language without hesitating or translating in your head.
What is the “ATPAL Care” guarantee?
Our goal is to see you succeed. Based on our experience with the Alsys methodology, students starting from zero typically reach a B2 level in 24 weeks. If you follow our guidelines and don’t achieve the level, we provide additional support to get you there.
Where is the school located?
We are located in the heart of downtown Montreal (Suite 307, 1396 St. Catherine W.).
Do I need to have a minimum level of English or French to join?
Not at all. ATPAL welcomes students of all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced speakers looking to perfect their fluency.
What types of accommodation are available for international students?
We offer two main options: Homestay, where you live with a local family to practice your language skills daily, and Student Houses and Residences, which offer more independence and the chance to live with other international students.
How far is the accommodation from the school?
Most of our housing options are located between 30 to 45 minutes from the school via Montreal’s excellent public transportation system (STM).
Are meals included in the accommodation?
For Homestays, you can choose between “Half-board” (2 meals a day) or “Full-board” (3 meals a day). Student houses and residences are usually self-catering, meaning you will have access to a kitchen to prepare your own meals.
Can I request a specific type of family (e.g., no pets, vegetarian diet)?
Yes. When you apply, you can list your preferences and allergies. We do our best to match you with a family that fits your lifestyle and dietary needs.
How can I pay for my tuition and registration fees?
You can pay securely through our online portal using Flywire, TransferMate, Credit Card, or PayPal. These platforms allow you to pay in your local currency with competitive exchange rates.
Are books and materials included in the price?
Course materials come with a separate fee, which is tailored to the number of weeks you enroll for.
How many hours of class will I have per week?
Our Plus Program offers 25 hours (30 lessons) per week, ideal for those who want an accelerated, immersive experience and faster results. If you prefer a slightly lighter schedule, our Standard Program includes 20 hours (24 lessons) per week, still providing a comprehensive and effective learning experience.
What is the average class size at ATPAL?
We keep our classes small to ensure personalized attention. The maximum capacity is 16 students, but the average is typically around 12 students.
Does ATPAL prepare students for official exams like IELTS or TEF?
Absolutely. We offer specialized “Test Preparation” courses designed to give you the strategies and practice needed to succeed in IELTS, TOEFL, TEF, or TCF exams.
Will I receive a certificate at the end of my course?
Yes! Upon completion, you can request your official ATPAL Certificate, which will state your duration of study and the proficiency level you achieved according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
